INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 24, 2008) - G.I. Betty, ridden confidently by David Flores, rallied for an easy 1 1/4-length victory in Thursday's $63,658 feature at Hollywood Park.
The 4-year-old bay filly, owned and trained by Bruce Headley, was fifth much of the way before moving into contention entering the stretch. She gained the lead in deep stretch and won under a hold, covering 1 1/16 miles on Cushion Track in 1:43.99.
G.I. Betty, second in her first start of the year in March, paid $3.80, $2.80 and $2.20 as the odds-on favorite in the field of seven. Forest Miss, ridden by Joseph Talamo, returned $7.80 and $4.40. The show payoff on Marvelous Mitten with Tyler Baze aboard was $4.
G.I. Betty has won three of 11 starts with four seconds and a third. The winner's share of $41,340 boosted her earnings to $172,820.
