Hollywood Park Player Nets $150,000 In National Contest
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Feb. 8, 2008) - Don Beardsworth, who qualified by placing in the top six at Hollywood Park's 2007 Firecracker Challenge, finished second to net $150,000 in the $1-million Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship in late January in Las Vegas.
Beardsworth, part-owner of Black Diamond Racing Stable, resides in Peoria, Arizona. He finished with a bankroll of $194.30 in the two-day contest. Richard Goodhall of Las Vegas topped the field of 277 with a total of $272.30 to take top prize of $500,000.
Beardsworth finished just 30 cents ahead of Roberta Cote of San Diego. The difference in prize money was $50,000. The second and fourth-place finishers were separated by just 40 cents as Albert Wong of Calgary finished just of dime back of Cote.
